Who are the run sessions for?
Everyone!! It does not matter if you are just starting out, not very fit, walking, or you have been injured and getting back into running or you have been running and want to join in with others, and have fun.  You work at your own pace.
 

How are the group run/walk sessions organised?
We have a 2 weekly program:

Week 1 is drills and exercises to help your running/walking. anyone can do these, regardless of your fitness or experience level, as you work at your own pace.  The charge for this session is $5
 
Week 2 is a group run/walk around Hagley Park.  We split into groups depending of fitness ability.  These groups vary depending on who is there but most weeks will include a 3-4k walk, a 3-4k walk/jog, a 5-6k Run/Jog/Walk and a 7-8k Run/Jog.

With these runs the rules are simple- it is not a race so we look after each other and no one gets left to run on their own. There is no charge for the Week 2 run/walk
 
The mission of the run group:

Is about starting running, keeping running, meeting others and picking up tips along the way, supporting and encouraging each other. And most importantly, having fun while gaining fitness.

Who organises and coaches the run groups?
Barb Millar is a REPS registered personal trainer with a strong background in swimming, running, triathlon and multisport.  Barb has been running for too many years to mention and has been an active member of the Port Hills Running Club, run races from 5k to Half Marathons.  She tried the Marathon distance once and decided that there is some experiences in life that you only needed to experience once!!
